OOoo, “World’s best Mac & Cheese!” I thought as I noticed it in the frozen food aisle. But at $11.99 I was totally not buying this.
After Jake went to the grocery store one day, I found this in our freezer. He makes the best impulse buys.
On that particular day, he found it on sale at Whole Foods for $6!
Certainly worth a taste test to see if it really is the world’s BEST mac and cheese.
Beecher is a legit cheesemaker. I remember visiting them at Pike Place Market in Seattle.
I cooked this using my favorite cheater microwave/oven method – microwave until mostly cooked, then finished in the oven until bubbly.
Now, for a taste test. Is it actually the world’s best mac and cheese?
Al dente noodles. . . extremely cheesy, tangy, rich, complex, but not too funky cheese sauce?
Damn it. Yes, we sighed and shrugged. It might actually be the world’s best mac and cheese.
We ate the whole pan and cursed the skies when we saw it wasn’t on sale any longer.
Next time we’ll load-up.
Would you be so kind as to share your cheater microwave/oven method? How long in the microwave, and how long in the oven and at what temp? Interested in a baseline recommendation….Thanks.
The Real Person!
Hayley,
I can’t really remember! I usually cook it in the microwave until it’s half thawed – either for about half the recommended microwave cook time, or I might start with five minutes at 50%. When it seems partially thawed, I pop into the oven at the recommended temperature until done which at least cuts the bake time in half.
Very tasty, but overpowered by salt
I thought bleachers meals are extremely overpriced and doesn’t taste any different then regular priced TV meals. I SUGGEST YOU DONT BUY EVER. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED
