About Me

Jeni Eats is my love song to wanderlust and food adventures.

I like to call myself a semi-retired food blogger. My goal used to be to write the type of blog I wanted to read. Now I wrote the blog I want to write. During the day I work in HR and continue to write for pleasure. Someday I want to be Paula Pell. Usually I blog about food and local travel, but sometimes I share about other things too, like infertility and The Bachelorette.

I live in the Twin Cities with my husband and dog. Farmers markets are my favorite. I don’t cook as much as I used to. I even wrote an apology to Sandra Lee. But, I love happy hours and exploring our local restaurant scene.

I recently discovered your blog and was surprised to see you lived in Fargo. I live in Moorhead, so that’s cool! We don’t go out to eat a lot; trying to save money and I like to cook myself. But, I’m wondering: what were some of your favorite restaurants in the F-M area? I work in the hospitality industry, and I’m always looking for cool places to send the hotel guests, as well as places to try for myself. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi Crystal! I loved living in Fargo-Moorhead. One of my dreams is to go back to North Dakota to see Fargo again and return to Theodore Roosevelt park. Wish I had spent more time there when we lived in North Dakota. It sounds like the restaurant scene has kept booming! A lot has changed over the past few years. We loved Mezzaluna’s happy hour. I worked at Josie’s Corner Cafe briefly and miss their knoephla and buttermilk pie. Not sure if La Unica still does weekend breakfast, but I liked their gorditas. We visited Mango’s often and Bangkok Corner. There are so many new places I want to try.

I love Mezzaluna too, but have never tried any of the other places. Thanks for the great suggestions!

Loved your charming review of The Lexington! Do you have a Facebook page?

What makes you an expert on food? What qualifications do you have other than you like food? I read your review of Rao’s and thought it was quite ridiculous that you would complain about portion size and cost. These are high quality ingredients that go into Rao’s and you expect it for under $5? It’s not a Swanson’s Hungryman meal! Just because you have an opinion doesnt make you an expert worthy of a food critic platform.

She never said she was an expert. Just that she enjoyed trying different places and writing about food. Just read her blog for enjoyment or don’t read it at all.
