I ate this meal five days in a row.
If there was more, I would have eaten it for six.
Stacy’s recent blog post on take-out recommendations inspired me to visit Bolé Ethiopian Cuisine located near the Super Target in Midway area of St. Paul, MN.
After reading her post I wanted to order the Super Veggie Sampler, too.
When I first visited Keg & Case thought it was fine, but a year and a half into it, I’ve come around.
Keg & Case isn’t super huge. It’s filled in more since opening and offers a variety of foods and price points. Located off a quiet corner of West Seventh, there’s plenty of parking in the lot (website says free all winter) or side streets.
You could spend a little money or a lot, from an upscale meal at In Bloom to a $7 banh mi at Bread & Boba.
In Bloom’s bar is a very comfortable spot for a single diner to enjoy a meal or snack. Smells coming from the crackling wood fire hearth draw me in.
Last year, we stopped at The Lexington for drinks after a family Christmas gathering.
I’ll never forget the incarnation several years ago. I had live-tweeted an extreme white elephant gift exchange. Each year our aunts coordinate a game with rules, regulations, props, and, sometimes, even a set. It’s fantastic.
During this particular year’s party, the prizes included white elephant prizes (supplied by hosts and guests )+ real prizes. I forgot the exact details of the game, but were no consolation “good prizes” and one of the rules allowed stealing. It became very competitive. Households divided against households. Children may have cried.
Every weekend I drive around collecting desserts.
For a while I was really into doughnuts. Then it was Trung Nam croissants (still love them). For a couple weekends I collected slices of Cafe Latte cake (the best). When I don’t feel like driving to Cafe Latte, Lunds & Byerlys will do. Then, I was really into cookies. Unfortunately, I never found any as good as my own.
Farmers Markets always have pastries and they’re a good excuse to visit a bakery nearby. Pie, biscuits, sourdough bread, I love chasing bready things.
This is all to say that really like pastries and I’ll be damned if I don’t know which ones are good. Really good.
Marc Heu’s patisserie blew me away.
There’s nothing like a long weekend where you feel productive and truly relax.
For an introvert, this is a delicate balance that’s rarely accomplished. We like to be alone. Sometimes we prefer it. But too much time alone also makes for an unhappy introvert.
The past two weeks were sprinkled with social gatherings and work actually hasn’t felt too hectic. This all led to a pretty good weekend.
My weekend goals were simple: Go out to eat a few times, clean up the yard, cook something, see John Wick 3. Last but not least, to finish Dead To Me, a newer Netflix series starring Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini and James Marsden.
