I never thought I’d say this, but I’m going to lead with a thought from my weekly horoscope.
Every week my friend shares Madame Clairvoyant’s weekly horoscopes. They’re not like typical newspaper or magazine horoscopes that offer vague insights into nothing (or, worse, those automatic Twitter horoscopes). I never read these. But I’ll Madame Clairvoyant’s. They’re more like a pep talk, a kick in the pants, a warm hug.
“If magic exists, it looks the same as courage.”
Post-election week, I have written this on my heart. I have tattooed this on my heart.
To be frank, I have grappled with this first post. I have tried to write it 14 times. Only writing about food seemed vapid. Writing purely about hope felt empty. Writing about the election completely overwhelmed me. Still. So, I’m going to leave you with this, for now.
With all my heart, I believe in loving and treating and honoring all people with respect, regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identification, religion, citizenship or immigration status. I value diversity and denounce hatred and bullying from any and every direction. I believe in trying to become the changes I want to see. This is what I want to see not only in this little corner of the internet, but in my community and the world.
This space must reflect this.
I believe we will need a lot of courage to do this. I need to and I have to believe that we can.
Yes we definitely can. Together. We can all be the answer and the change that is needed to create a better world. One small step at a time. Just like this blog post. Making a difference with both our words and our actions. Good for you, Jeni. Hugs.
